Glass Mount and Low Profile Aerials

Glass Mount aerials

A glass Mount Aerial enables an aerial to be fitted to a vehicle without the need to drill holes in the external body panels.

The aerial plate and internal mounted  matching unit are fitted to the glass with a high bond adhesive tape. The units are easy to install and tune. The VHF model is an end fed half wave configuration having unity gain.  Coupling is capacitive through the glass to the aerial plate.

Glass mount

Glass mount aerials are supplied with 4 metres of RG58 coaxial cable fitted. The VHF aerial (GME) element is a 1m stainless steel tapered whip.

The UHF model (GMU) is a 5/8 wave configuration providing 3dB of gain. The black epoxy coated aerial element is pretuned for the trunking band. For C&D bands the element length is 415mm above the coil.

Low Profile aerials

Our VHF and UFH low profile aerials are weather resistant and supplied factory tuned.

VHF low profile aerials

Low Profile Antennas are special application antennas for installations where minimum overhead clearance is available and where vibration may be severe. They are used on such things as railways, forestry, buses, service vehicles, etc.

The LP-A and LP-E models are fabricated from Series 6000 grade aluminium which is then welded. Completed antennas are finished with an epoxy coating to provide a weather resistant finish.

ASB plastic radome housings are available for both the LP-A and LP-E models.

The LP-FM-HD and LP-E-HD models are a heavy duty design manufactured from cast aluminium and suitable for heavy industry use including railways. Completed antennas are finished with an epoxy coating to provide a weather resistant finish.

The radiation pattern of all models is equivalent to a 1/4 wave antenna, vertically polarised when mounted on a horizontal ground plane and is essentially omnidirectional.

UHF low profile aerials

There are two models available in the UHF low profile range, the LPU-C (shown right) and LPU-SH.

Low profile UHF aerial

The LPU-SH model is lightweight in construction, being fabricated from aluminium and housed in a white ABS plastic radome. Apart from mobile use, these units can be installed for data link outstations where an unobtrusive antenna is required.

The radiation pattern is similar to a 1/4 wave antenna, vertically polarised and omnidirectional when installed on a horizontal metal ground plane. They are factory tuned to the operating frequency, with the frequency stamped on the underside.

The LPU-C is a heavy duty design manufactured from cast aluminium and is suitable for bus/truck fleet operation or railway use. A hardwire 4m RG58 coax tail is fitted as standard.

This antenna is supplied with an integral ground plane and finished with a powder coated paint finish.
